CIMI Trip Adventure - February 2026

Students recently visited the Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI) for an exciting mix of hands-on science and outdoor activities. The trip began with a scenic two-hour boat ride to Catalina Island, giving students a first taste of adventure and plenty of ocean views along the way.

Once on the island, students dived into marine science labs, exploring oceanography, marine invertebrates, algae, fish, sharks, deep-sea life, and even completing a squid dissection. These labs gave students the chance to see, touch, and study real marine creatures while learning about ocean ecosystems and how different species adapt to life in the ocean.

Outside the labs, students enjoyed snorkeling, climbing the rock wall, and gathering around a beach bonfire at the end of the day. They worked together on challenges, shared stories, and supported each other through new experiences. Between the science and the adventures, every day was full of learning, teamwork, and fun.

By the end of the trip, students returned with new knowledge, stronger friendships, and memories that will last long after the boat ride home. It was an experience that combined curiosity, confidence, and a whole lot of fun.
